Bernd’s weekly blog

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my weekly blog… Why three dots, rather than one, or just a little over the top multitude of exclamation marks?

I am trying to convey a little mystery, you see, a feeling of unfinished voyaging through the wonders of what may be possible to convey in a few words on a website you are currently gazing (maybe even joyfully?) upon.

Life is inherently mysterious. We just don’t really notice it most of the time, thinking it’s all about getting things done, making money, dating the right people, or creating the right people if you’re of a certain mindset and situation and further along. The material world has taken hold of our squishy bits and twisted until we quickly and breathlessly say, “Ok! I get it! This is all there is? There is no depth or other world! It’s FINE! Now can you please stop pulling quite so hard?”

However, it really is a grand mystery. Nothing is quite as it seems. This is my promise to you, in fact. I will gladly stand behind these words with great vehemence and gusto and passion, as they point toward the way in which I live my life. A life devoted to connecting to the ineffable, mysterious, magical world we really live in, rather than the one we have settled for.

It is one of the aims of this blog to reveal whatever glimpses I have had of this glorious reality we actually live in, one week at a time. My way in has been, and continues to be, the world of ancient sages, and wanderers, and poets, and musicians. A world of yogis, smeared in ash, wandering naked through the streets, of meditators sitting in caves above the snow line while in fact floating in almost unimaginable degrees of bliss. A world where the protagonists are those speaking to the universe itself, connected to the divine truth of reality on a daily basis, who have given us thousands of years worth of teachings and insights, and ways to the same realisation they themselves experienced.

The Path was created as an entry point into this world for absolutely anyone who is curious enough to try dipping their toes in. I do my best to make the yogic teachings approachable for all who feel even a tiny inkling that this is a process worth attempting, plus those rather further along of course.

I’m currently riding a wave of flow and fire, having returned from India, where I was able to spend nearly two weeks in the company and under the guidance of Mahayogi Pradeep Ullal, who I simply call Guruji. This time was an important and nourishing one for me, as it gave me the chance to go far deeper into the yogic teachings I am very much doing my best to practise, embody, and share.

You see, all of us get too involved in a life without magic or true, boundless joy. We need time away from all of this to actually experience wonder again, in the same way a small child experiences life as a boundless field of curiosity. I am no exception. While I had maintained a daily practise, I was teaching and organising a great deal, while not really opening up to what’s there all the time for us, should we take the time to listen for a moment.

Taking off into the jungle, and leaping into an adventure of the spirit (not to mention the body, mind, and heart!) refreshed, recharged, and re-inspired me. And I’m equally so happy to be back, once again able to share with my beloved students, friends, and loved ones (well, everyone is a loved one, really…).

So much to share and pass on, but enough words for this week. I really do wish you all a healthy smattering of wonder to break you into a moment or ten of pure joy, and be with you next week!

With love,

Bernd (The Path Yoga Director).
